The Evidence Of An Avid Fan

There is no better way to show support for your favorite team or player than with authentic NFL jerseys. And while these pieces of memorabilia are mandatory for the avid fan, they most likely will carry a hefty price tag. If you are looking for an embroidered jersey, you will likely have to shell out at least $150, and if you go for a replica, chances are that you will probably end up with a fancy t-shirt.

Thankfully, several websites sell cheap NFL jerseys that are the real deal. They feature embroidered logos, number and names, just like the ones the pros wear on Sundays. It used to be that you could only get well known players, but now the selection consists of just about any player that you can think of.

Losing Another Great Player

Thursday on the NFL Network LaDainian Tomlinson’s agent announced he will not be playing for the San Diego Chargers in the next season. Tomlinson is the franchise’s all-time leading rusher, but he just finished the least productive season of his nine-year NFL career (730 yards on 223 carries). Last offseason, the 2006 NFL MVP agreed to restructure the final three years of his contract and take a pay cut, but now he says that he won’t do that again.

“It would be sad to see the Hall of Famer depart and play for another team at the end of his career. Certainly he is still a high-quality football player and He keeps himself in tremendous condition. I expect him to be playing in the National Football League this year, and I think he will be a major part of somebody’s offense.

Nevertheless I will be donning my San Diego Chargers jerseys to show him I will be supporting him in whatever decision he makes, and I hope he will decide to continue in the NFL.

FOURTEEN-AND-OH FEELS GOOD

Peyton ManningI have to say the Colts have had some of the most exciting and fun football games this year. That game last night at Jacksonville was a shootout coming down to the last min with everyone on the edge of their seats. Peyton Manning, who played a perfect first half for a second time in as many visits to Jacksonville, followed that half with yet another fourth-quarter rally, leading the Colts to their 14th consecutive victory this season – 35-31 over the Jacksonville Jaguars in front of a sold-out croud at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla., Thursday night. The Colts rallied five times from three-point deficits, the last time when Manning threw his fourth touchdown pass – this one a 65-yarder to three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Reggie Wayne on 3rd-and-5 from the Colts 35 with 5:23 remaining. An interception by rookie cornerback Jacob Lacey secured the victory with :56 remaining.

The Colts, who extended their regular-season winning streak to an NFL-record 23 games, became the third team in NFL history to start the season 14-0. The 1972 Miami Dolphins went unbeaten in a 14-game regular season, and the New England Patriots finished 16-0 in 2007. Donning one of my Indianapolis Colts Jerseys is an excellent way for me to show my support for my team.

WILL CINCINNATI BE IN THE SUPERBOWL?

Carson PalmerAs a lifelong Cincinnati Bengals fan, I have had few chances to cheer on a winning franchise. Carson Palmer has given hope to a long time fan like me. Palmer is a Pro Bowl quarterback for the Cincinnati Bengals. Palmer won the Heisman Trophy in 2002, his senior season at USC. He was drafted by the Bengals with the first overall pick in 2003. He did not take a single snap in his rookie year while being mentored by Jon Kitna.

In the 2004 season Palmer was named the starting quarterback. He made mistakes which is usually normal for quarterbacks in their first season, but still managed to throw for 2,897 yards with 18 touchdowns and 18 interceptions in 13 games. The team finished with an 8-8 record. In 2005 Palmer threw for a league-leading 32 touchdown passes to finish the season at an 11-5 record to win their first division title since 1990. I will be wearing one of my Cincinnati Bengals jerseys this week for their game against the Chargers to give my support.

Bruce Smith’s Election Over Due

Buffalo Bills JerseysWith his retirement close to 6 years ago, former Buffalo Bills and Washington Redskins defensive end Bruce Smith was announced as a nominee for the 2009 Hall of Fame and was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame on August 8, 2009. It has been an inevitable event for this stand up defensive player. Having been named the defensive player of the year in 1987, 1988, 1990 and 1996 and elected into 11 Pro Bowls during his long career, people want to remember his contribution to the game.

Having been a first-round draft choice in 1985, he is also the NFL’s all-time career sack leader (200), Smith’s 13 seasons with 10 or more sacks is also an NFL record. Owning a couple of buffalo bills jerseys is a great way to support the Bills and Smith.

A True Fan Must Keep Hope Alive

detroitAs a lifelong Detroit Lions fan, I have had few chances to cheer on a winning franchise. In recent years, the team has sunk to a new low, plunging beneath mediocrity and into the category of league laughing stock. Boasting just one road win in their last 16 games, the Lions are a true case study in ineptitude. Still, as a true fan I must carry on and hope that the team shows signs of improvement next year.

When I feel my dedication to the team beginning to waver, I often pull on one of my Detroit Lions jerseys. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Calvin Johnson are promising talents, so there is at least some reason to hold out hope. I must admit, however, that at various points during this season I’ve wished the coach would call up Barry Sanders. Even at his advanced age, he could probably do a better job than some of the players on the field.
